A Typical Candidate Profile

A case study explanation of the simple and inexpensive process

Forty two year old John Citizen is married with three children. He lives in the UK at Knutsford, Cheshire and is a solid plasterer with 25 years industry experience.

John however has no formal qualifications – an impediment to his desire to emigrate to Australia with his family and work in the only profession he knows.

John’s Visa agent has suggested the best way for him to qualify for emigration is via ‘Pathway E’ – a pathway that requires the attainment of an AQF Level III trade qualification prior to his Visa application.

His agent explained the processes and costs involved, the additional personal criteria he must meet and recently introduced John to Australian Construction and Training Services Pty Ltd (ACTS), a leading training company operating in the UK, whose AQF Level III are recognised by TRA, all states and territories of Australia.

To get the process underway, John, through his Visa agent, must first fill out an AQF Level III enquiry form which takes no more than three minutes. This form is then forwarded to ACTS to start the formal application process.

Australian Construction and Training Services Pty Ltd will then assist in John completing the Stage One documentation which will include a Trade Self Assessment – another short process of no longer than 30 minutes. A payment of £750 is required on application and signup.

John will then be given a check list of items needed for work assessment evidence gathering to obtain the AQF Level III qualification.

These include items such as photos, references, testimonials, work history, proof of date of birth, site addresses, a sample quotation and documentation of any relevant prior formal training. At this stage, an Assessment Course fee of £1500 is required.

His ACTS assessor will then complete a comprehensive work assessment to gather his own site evidence, including on site and telephone interviews, Workplace assessments, on-site photographs and other evidence as required.

Once John and his assessor have gathered all the relevant evidence and correct documentation, that information will then be subject to a Moderation and Compliance audit ensuring the evidence and the candidate meets the needs of the Australian Construction Industry and AQF.

Following final approval, John will pay the final Assessment Course £1500 and will be issued with an AQF Level III Trade Qualification, ACTS will pass on John’s evidence pack to his Visa agent to assist in completion of the migration process.
